The Regenerative Way

Why I’m doing this

A personal reflection on why I believe we can go beyond doing less harm—and create businesses that make a positive difference for people, communities and the living world.

Be part of it

We’re building more than a business. We’re building a growing community around regenerative ways of creating, working and evolving.

Want to work with us, collaborate, contribute, or simply be part of what we’re building?

Get in touch

Address what matters now. Strengthen your capacity to evolve what comes next.

We work with leaders and organizations to address real challenges and redesign how people, processes, technology, and leadership work together.

The aim is not simply to solve today’s problem, but to leave the organization more capable of creating value tomorrow—and the people, relationships, communities, and environments around it better off.

Regeneration

The regenerative enterprise

A regenerative enterprise is a business designed to function like a living ecosystem, actively restoring, renewing, and improving the environment and society through its core commercial operations.

Unlike a traditional business that depletes resources, or a sustainable business that merely minimizes harm, a regenerative enterprise leaves the systems it touches healthier, more resilient, and more capable of flourishing.

The 4 Core Characteristics

Living-Systems Framework

It rejects the mechanical "take-make-waste" model. It views supply chains, workers, and nature as deeply interconnected webs.

Capital Multiplication

It simultaneously grows multiple forms of capital. This includes financial, natural, human, social, and cultural wealth.

Self-Healing Design

It builds business loops that automatically repair damage. Examples include restoring local watersheds or revitalizing communities through trade.

Evolutionary Mindset

It adapts dynamically to changes. It focuses on long-term resilience and health over short-term, exponential growth.

Explore the foundations of the regenerative enterprise

Autonomy enables the enterprise to act. Resilience enables it to endure. Together, they create the conditions for the enterprise to continuously regenerate its capacity to create value.

Stop treating technology as the driver of transformation. Ask instead what must be true in the enterprise for Autonomy and Resilience to become properties of the system—and Regeneration to emerge as its higher-order property.

That is the foundation of Regenerating Enterprise™.

Core Pillars of Regenerative Organizations

  • Net-Positive Impact: Leaving environments and communities measurably better off than before.
  • Living-Systems Thinking: Viewing a corporation as an interconnected ecosystem, not a mechanical production line.
  • Value-Chain Restoration: Sourcing materials via regenerative agriculture and circular economies that restore topsoil and biodiversity.
  • Human Well-being: Designing workplaces that renew employee energy, psychological safety, and community health.

The Regenerative Way

01

Regenerative Assessment

Discover where regeneration can create the greatest value.

  • Where value is being depleted or lost
  • Where hidden dependencies and vulnerabilities exist
  • Where regenerative opportunities are emerging
  • What could be redesigned to create longer-term value
  • Where to start—and what to prioritize

Outcome: a clear picture of your current regenerative potential and the opportunities worth acting on.

→ Assess your organization
02

Leader Awareness & Critical Thinking

Change starts with how leaders see the system.

  • Systems thinking
  • Critical thinking
  • Awareness of interdependencies
  • The ability to recognize unintended consequences
  • New perspectives on growth, value and performance
  • The capacity to make decisions with longer-term consequences in mind

Outcome: leaders who can see beyond immediate problems and make better decisions within complex living systems.

→ Develop regenerative leadership
03

Organization & Ways-of-Working Redesign

Turn regenerative thinking into the way the organization actually works.

  • Ways of working
  • Organizational structures
  • Decision-making processes
  • Roles and responsibilities
  • Collaboration and governance
  • Value creation processes
  • Feedback and learning loops

Outcome: an organization whose operating model is better aligned with regeneration.

→ Redesign the way you work
04

Training & Capability Building

Give your people the knowledge and tools to act.

  • Regeneration Fundamentals — a foundation for understanding regenerative thinking, principles and practices.
  • Ad Hoc Training — tailored learning experiences designed around your organization's specific challenges, sector and transformation goals.

Outcome: shared language, practical understanding and the capacity to apply regenerative thinking in everyday work.

→ Build regenerative capabilities

The design principles

The Seven Principles of Regenerating Enterprise™

Seven enterprise design principles that create the conditions for autonomy and resilience to emerge—and for regeneration to become a property of the system itself.

  1. 01

    centralized control

    Distributed ownership

Design the organization so people own outcomes, not just activities.

  2. 02

    Responsibility matrices

    Clear accountability

Replace fragmented responsibility models with explicit ownership of decisions, outcomes and commitments.

  3. 03

    Dependency meetings

    Dynamic feedback loops

Create continuous mechanisms that allow information, learning and decisions to flow where they are needed.

  4. 04

    Approval chains

    Clear decision gateways

Define the conditions that allow teams to move with autonomy while preserving quality, reliability and coherence.

  5. 05

    Positional authority

    Intrinsic equality & shared purpose

Enable people at every level to access the information they need, contribute their intelligence, and make meaningful decisions in pursuit of a shared direction.

  6. 06

    Functional silos

    Value-driven integration

Organize expertise around the creation of customer, ecosystem and business value, with a clear mechanism for integrating contributions into a coherent whole.

  7. 07

    Output delivery

    Value creation

Measure success by the impact generated, not by the amount of work delivered.

  8. Design intent

Create the conditions for Autonomy and Resilience to emerge—and Regeneration to become a property of the system itself.
